Football has faced many enemies for a long time, the principle ones being those in house who seek to claim they have the welfare of the game in mind, despite dollar bills being the primary source of motivation – and contention (European Super League, anyone?).
We don’t wanna sit here and wax lyrical about how the beautiful game used to belong to the fans, because we don’t need to. It still does! Despite the fact “they” probably control a far greater percentage of wealth and influence, the “elites” at the top of the game, represent a tiny proportion of those globally who are in the game,
But wealth and influence doesn’t define fans. It doesn’t define the boys and girls across the globe who head outside each day to kick a tatty ball around the local pitch or streets. The dastardly twelve don’t represent the hope & love that football brings to so many in the purest and simplest form.
Football is not even MORE than money. It’s not even money. It is connection with purpose; a passion; a desire. A connection to others with sincerity and commonality. Irrespective of our sex, gender, skin colour, financial status or even club we support. Before anything else, we are football fans first and that’s the beauty of the game.

Using football as a lens, FC Kowloon shines a light on society, and those that stand for something life and are making a difference to their community. Leaders, artists, musicians, tattooists, photographers, designers. Kowloon has so much to offer to football, but more than that, to life itself. It’s a deep, dark, diverse place that is FULL of life. It’s our job to show it to the world. Despite its relative size, Hong Kong is a cultural hub, and has a disproportionate influence in the pan-Asian region.
So stay tuned for stories from the subculture of Kowloon & Hong Kong, and join the collective. You are Kowloon. We are Kowloon.
